ham khīsh rā bigāneh kon ham khāneh rā virāneh kon * wangah biyā bā āsheqān hamkhāneh show hamkhāneh show
Both to yourself a stranger be and your house destroy * Then come! Become a housemate to the Lovers! Their housemate become!
رو سینه را چون سینه‌ها هفت آب شو از کینه‌ها * وآنگه شراب عشق را پیمانه شو پیمانه شو
row sineh ra chun sinehā haft āb show az kīnehā * wangah sharāb-e eshq rā paymāneh show paymāneh show
Go and wash your heart, as other hearts, seven times of grudges * Then to the wine of love, a cup become! a cup become!
باید که جمله جان شوی تا لایق جانان شوی * گر سوی مستان می‌روی مستانه شو مستانه شو
bāyad ke jomleh jān shavi tā lāyeq-e jānān shavi * gar sūye mastān, miravi, mastāneh show, mastāneh show
You must become all soul to be worthy of the Beloved * If you go to those who are drunk, go drunkenly! go drunkenly!
آن گوشوار شاهدان هم صحبت عارض شده * آن گوش و عارض بایدت دردانه شو دردانه شو
ān gushvār-e shāhedān hamsohbat-e ārez shodeh * gush u ārez bāyadat dordāneh show durdāneh show
That earring of beauties became a companion to the cheek * If that ear and cheek must be yours, become a pearl! Become a pearl!
چون جان تو شد در هوا ز افسانه شیرین ما * فانی شو و چون عاشقان افسانه شو افسانه شو
chun jān tow shod dar havā zafsāneh-e shirin-e mā * fānī show u chun āshiqān afsāneh show afsāneh show
When your soul is lifted up by our sweet legend * Dissolve into One and, as Lovers do, a legend become! A legend become!
تو لیلة القبری برو تا لیلة القدری شوی * چون قدر مر ارواح را کاشانه شو کاشانه شو
tow laylat al-qabrī berow tā laylat al-qadrī shavi * chun qadr mar arwāḥ rā kāshāneh show kāshāneh show
You, night of the grave, go to become the Night of Power! * Like the Night of Power become the souls’ haven! Become the souls’ haven!
اندیشه‌ات جایی رود وآنگه تو را آن جا کشد * ز اندیشه بگذر چون قضا پیشانه شو پیشانه شو
andishe-at jāyi ravad wāngah tow rā ān kashad * zandisheh bogzar chun qazā pishāneh show bishāneh show
Your thoughts go somewhere and you are dragged there * Let go of your thoughts and like destiny precede! Like destiny precede!
قفلی بود میل و هوا بنهاده بر دل‌های ما * مفتاح شو مفتاح را دندانه شو دندانه شو
qufli bavad mayl u hava benhādeh bar delhā-ye mā * miftāḥ show miftāḥ rā dandāneh show dandāneh show
Whims and desires are a lock placed upon our hearts * Become a key, a key! Become the key’s edge!
بنواخت نور مصطفی آن استن حنانه را * کمتر ز چوبی نیستی حنانه شو حنانه شو
benvakht nure muṣṭafā ān ustun-e ḥannāneh rā * kamtar ze chubi nisti ḥannāneh show ḥannaneh show
The light of Muhammad soothed the crying palm trunk * You are no less than a piece of wood. Begin crying! Begin crying!

If the beloved shows her face, be filled with it like a mirror * And if the beloved untwists her hair, go become the comb! Go become the comb!
تا کی دوشاخه چون رخی تا کی چو بیذق کم تکی *تا کی چو فرزین کژ روی فرزانه شو فرزانه شو
tā kay dow shākheh chun rokhī tā kay chū bayzaq kam taki * tā kay chu farzīn kaj ravi, farzāneh show farzāneh show
How long will you move two ways like the rook of chess? How long will you move one step like the pawn? * How long will you move diagonally like the queen? Become the sage, become the sage!
شکرانه دادی عشق را از تحفه‌ها و مال‌ها * هل مال را خود را بده شکرانه شو شکرانه شو
shukrāneh dādi ʿeshq rā az toḥfeh-hā u mālhā * hel māl rā khud rā bedeh shokrāneh show shokrāneh show
Gratefully for the sake of love you gave gifts and wealth * Let go of possessions! Give yourself! Become gratitude itself! Become gratitude itself!
یک مدتی ارکان بدی یک مدتی حیوان بدی * یک مدتی چون جان شدی جانانه شو جانانه شو
yek muddati arkān bodi yek muddati ḥayvān bodi * yek muddati chun jān shodi jānāneh show jānāneh show
For a time, you were the elements. For a time, you were an animal * For a time you became like the spirit. Become the Beloved! Become the Beloved!
ای ناطقه بر بام و در تا کی روی در خانه پر * نطق زبان را ترک کن بی‌چانه شو بی‌چانه شو
ay nāṭiqeh bar bām u dar tā kay ravi dar khāneh par * nuṭq-e zabān rā tark kon bichāneh show bichāneh show
O speaker, how long will you go about the rooves and doors? Go inside the house * Leave the speech of the tongue, Leave chatter behind! Leave chatter behind!
