Supplicate -25 Ramadan 1440 – Saraiya Bah

“they alternate from
prostration to circumnavigation
of their tasbih.
at times, tears carve tracks
on cheeks the hue of mahogany.
shoulders shudder from
swallowed grief.
not wanting to wail
as they weep.
yet they still don’t break.
just supplicate.
and bow.
and wait.
and bow.
wow.”
